AKM to start crowdfunding for MMC fire victims

The Ao Students Conference (AKM) would begin a crowdfunding campaign from February 7 to March 15 in aid of the victims of the devastating fire that broke out at Mokokchung Municipal Shopping Complex on February 3.
Announcing this, AKM president Lanutoshi Aier and general secretary Satemmongba in a press release appealed to everyone to contribute towards the crowdfunding initiative.

In this regard, they shared the bank account details of the student body (Account Name: Ao Students Conference; Account number: 1235104000052915; IFS Code: IBKL0001235), along with the GPay number of AKM vice-president Onenpong (9774614389).
They said those who wished to contribute in cash could also do so at the AKM office.

The duo mentioned that 62 shops were burnt completely and 73 shops suffered losses valued at crores of rupees, leaving several hardworking individuals and families devastated with the loss of their livelihoods. Noting that the devastation caused by the fire had left many families in urgent need of assistance, they pointed out that the generous donations would go a long way in helping these individuals get back on their feet, rebuild their businesses, and regain a sense of normalcy in their lives.

They stressed that timely contributions could provide immediate relief and alleviate their suffering.
In light of this distressing situation, the AKM leaders disclosed that Mokokchung deputy commissioner had approached them to provide support and relief to the victims of this disaster.

They pointed out that it was the collective responsibility of everyone to come forward and extend a helping hand to those in need during these difficult times, adding, “As a community, we have the power to make a difference in the lives of those who have been affected.”
Claiming that the destruction of these shops had not only affected the individual businesses, but also had a ripple effect on the entire local economy, the AKM leaders emphasised that supporting the rebuilding efforts could help restore vitality to the community and preserve livelihoods.

Calling for solidarity and compassion towards the fellow community members in their time of need, they said public support, whether big or small, would make a meaningful impact and bring hope to those who suffered losses.
“In times of adversity, we are reminded of the strength and resilience of our diverse community. Regardless of differences, let us come together as one to offer support and solidarity to those facing hardships,” the release exhorted the public.

The student leaders reasoned that investing in the recovery of these businesses was an investment in the future of the youth and generations to come. By rebuilding these establishments, they reasoned that opportunities for employment and entrepreneurship were created, fostering a brighter future for thee community.
According to them, no donation was too small, and every contribution, no matter how modest, could make a significant difference in the lives of those affected.

“Together, our collective efforts can bring about positive change and restore hope to those in need,” they pointed out.
For further inquiries, they called for contacting AKM information & publicity secretary Bendangnangba (7085652415) and assistant general secretary Bangjungkaba Imchen (8837043398).
