The developer of the upcoming real-time strategy game Stormgate, which includes former Starcraft staff, is offering fans the opportunity to invest in the company. Frost Giant Studios has launched a “crowd-equity campaign” through StartEngine, allowing fans to acquire shares in the company. Interested parties can reserve a share ahead of March as an indicator of potential interest. Currently, almost £300,000 has been reserved from 177 investors. The aim of this equity campaign is to support a strategic marketing campaign and prepare for Stormgate’s early access launch this summer. Frost Giant Studios wants to self-publish the game with direct support from the player community to bypass industry instability. The CEO of Frost Giant Studios, Tim Morten, stated that the real-time strategy genre has not declined but has faced increased popularity in other genres. Stormgate aims to break down barriers and bring the RTS genre back into the spotlight. In other gaming news, Arrowhead Game Studios’ CEO advises against purchasing Helldivers 2 until server issues are resolved.
