The developer of the upcoming real-time strategy game Stormgate, which includes former Starcraft staff, is giving fans the opportunity to invest in the company. Frost Giant Studios has announced a “crowd-equity campaign” through StartEngine, which will be activated next month, allowing fans to acquire shares in the company. Interested parties can reserve a share ahead of March, indicating their potential interest to the Stormgate team. At present, almost £300,000 has been reserved from 177 investors. However, StartEngine advises that all investments are speculative, illiquid, and involve a high degree of risk. In 2022, Stormgate raised £18.4 million for its development, and the aim of this equity campaign is to support a strategic marketing campaign for the game’s early access launch this summer. Frost Giant Studios wants to self-publish the game in the West with direct support from its player community. The CEO of Frost Giant Studios, Tim Morten, stated that the real-time strategy genre has not declined but has faced competition from other popular genres. The company believes that Stormgate can break down barriers and bring the RTS genre back into the spotlight.
